My first post on Substack!

When God created the Earth, He didn’t cellotape “reserved” signs on certain lands or hand out VIP passes to a select few. There were no government-restricted areas, no corporate-owned resources, no invisible barriers keeping people in their place. If you found gold, you could keep it. If you wanted to build a home by the river, you could. Life was simple. Live, work, enjoy the abundance, repeat.

Classism was never supposed to be a thing. But somewhere along the way, the rules changed. Land became “owned,” resources got locked up, and suddenly, people had to earn their right to exist in an economy that wasn’t designed for them to win. Classism became a system, one that keeps the wealth and power neatly stacked at the top while the rest are left scrambling for the leftovers.
Fast forward to today, people are stuck in a cycle of working, paying bills, and somehow still feeling like they’re barely keeping up. The basic stuff like land, food, water, and even time, have become luxuries. And let’s not even get started on the idea of the “economy,” a never-ending hamster wheel that most people are forced to run on to stay afloat.
And honestly? That was never the plan. This isn’t God’s design. Oh, the good of God.
Genesis 1:28-30 NASB1995
[28] God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” [29] Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; [30] and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so.
Humanity was meant to share in the Earth’s abundance, not be locked into a system where financial stress and survival-mode living are the norm. Classism isn’t just an unfortunate side effect of civilization, it’s a carefully crafted setup designed to keep power in the hands of a few while making sure everyone else stays dependent.
The wildest part? Most of us have been taught to accept this as normal. We’re told that if we just “work hard,” we’ll make it. But the truth is, the system was never built for most people to win. Success isn’t just about effort, it’s about access, privilege, and opportunities that some are born into while others never even get close to.
And classism isn’t just about money. It decides who gets the best healthcare, the best education, and the freedom to dream without the weight of survival crushing them. It’s not just about wealth, it’s about control.
So, what next? First, we start by calling classism what it is. A rigged system, not some natural order of things. We stop blaming individuals for struggling and start questioning why struggle is even the default. We challenge the idea that only a few people should have access to the good life while the rest grind just to get by. Because at the end of the day, the Earth wasn’t made for just a privileged handful. It was meant for all of us. Maybe it’s time we start acting like it.
